Here is my underbiting Saber-toothed PAW-killing custom. I call him Jaw, LOL. The original art toy is called a Coarse PAW! milky bliss. I beheaded the original figure (the original head is in hand), sculpted a new head, bulked him up on more steroids and gave him the rivets, plates, and weathering techniques I've been using for a bit. It took a while to come together but it ended up nicely I think.

I made two more bees. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the minimunny iron bee was given to the National Tay-Sachs & Allied Diseases Association. Tay–Sachs disease is "an autosomal recessive genetic disorder" for which there is currently no cure. A fan asked me to donate a custom for a TSD-related charity expo and benefit. I made this piece as a commission and contributed directly to the NTSAD. And here's a picture of it with another bee based on the 5" MadL platform.

He's a big icon of mine and creator of the labbit figure that I custom regularly. He once commented on a custom of mine from back in 2008 (the Ankylabbitosaurus) and it still gets me excited thinking about it today. All the Munnyworld show winners can be seen here.

Did a pairing of bull(abbits) this time around: a white bull + cardinals and a red bull + blue kingfishers. 7 months of steady work to finish them both but I was happy to have another chance to think through the paint application and figure out a design for making birds.Here's the labbit before I reattached the head to the tail end and repositioned the ears: First post of 2011!

Here's a preview pic of one of my pieces for the "5-Eyed Dragon" Show @ Dragatomi starting April 10th with me and the incomparable Betso, Drilone, Leecifer and Brent Nolasco.

Ferdinand would rather smell the flowers than fight but one day he meets Willy and EZ B and life would never be the same again: 10" labbit and two 3" dunnys.On making the bull(abbit): I wanted to give the bull(abbit) really powerful shoulders so I cut off the head and reversed the body creating an upward slant from the hind legs to the shoulders (in effect turning the hind legs into the front legs). This slope still wasn't pronounced enough so I added a large hump to back of the shoulders and built up the front legs further. I extended the head and neck and used the labbit's original ears for the horns. The rivets are hundreds of escutcheon pins- a kind of nail with a rounded head. I used magic sculpt, a two-part epoxy putty for all the sculpting on this piece.

I know. It's been a while since I last posted. I’ve been keeping under wraps a few pieces I’ve been working on over the last three months for a 5-person show that I’m a part of. The show is called "5-eyed Dragon" opening April 10th, 2010 with Nolasco, Drilone, Bilbetsovic, Leecifer and myself. The show will be at Dragatomi in Sacramento, CA. In the meantime, I'll put up some sneak peaks and works-in-progress soon to keep some rhythm to this blog but I don't expect to do any full reveals until closer to the show.
